Course content
From the basics to practical application
On the ‘Tourism and Travel Management – dual’ degree programme, you will gain valuable practical experience in a partner company alongside your studies at the university. The programme is designed as an intensive course, enabling you to earn 210 ECTS credits within 6 semesters. As with the standard version of the programme, the dual study programme begins with foundational topics and progresses to more specialised content as the course advances.
- To begin with, you’ll learn key aspects of general business administration, such as marketing, accounting and economics. You’ll also be exposed to foreign languages and intercultural studies right from the start.
- As the programme progresses, you will delve more deeply into the specialised business management aspects of tourism and transport. After gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of the tourism industry in an introductory module, you will acquire knowledge in the following areas:
- Tour operator and travel distribution management
- Transport mode management
- Regional tourism development
- Hotel management
- Business travel management
- Event Management
- In the final stage of your studies, you will apply your knowledge in seminars and critically examine current issues in tourism. You will also explore in depth the challenges posed by digitalisation in the tourism sector.
- The work placements at your partner organisation take place during the lecture-free periods.
- Optionally, you can integrate a semester abroad into your degree programme in consultation with your placement partner.

To be admitted to the Bachelor’s degree programme in Tourism and Travel Management – dual, you will need:
- a training or work placement contract with a partner organisation
- a certificate of general university entrance qualification or a certificate of entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences
- Evidence of your English language proficiency at at least level B1 (CEFR) or equivalent
- You may submit this evidence by the end of your first year of study
- Alternatively, you can pass the ‘English for Tourism Professionals’ module as part of your degree programme
In addition, we recommend that you have a good general education as well as a sound knowledge of economics, mathematics and languages. As well as English, knowledge of a second foreign language is an advantage, particularly French or Spanish.
For the ‘Tourism and Travel Management – dual’ degree programme, the application process is divided into two stages:
- You apply directly to the partner institution
- Once your application has been accepted by the partner, you submit your documents electronically via the university’s application portal.

At Worms University of Applied Sciences, you do not pay any tuition fees. You only pay the semester fee, which is currently €155.70. This fee covers, amongst other things, services provided by the Student Services Organisation.
