Accessibility Statement

Preliminary remark

With the end of the transition period on 23 September 2020, public bodies are expected to issue a declaration on digital accessibility. The declaration is based on EU Directive 2016/2102, which has been transposed into national law for around two years. At federal level, the EU Directive has been transposed into the updated Accessible Information Technology Regulation (BITV 2.0). For mobile applications operated by public sector bodies, the deadline is 23 June 2021.

Scope of the statement

Worms University of Applied Sciences

The statement was last revised on 1 July 2020. It applies to the domain www.hs-worms.de, but not to other domains hosted by the University.
This statement is based on the ‘WCAG Self-Assessment’ from the ‘Accessible Information and Communication’ (BIK) project, a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

Accessibility of the website

The requirements of the current BITV are partially, but largely, met (53 out of 60 assessment criteria). Work is underway to improve accessibility.

Measures to improve accessibility

The Data Centre provides the technical framework for the website and ensures that the technologies used are suitable for presenting content in an accessible manner. Responsibility for the content design of the website lies with the specialist and organisational departments, and specifically with their online editors. The Data Centre regularly offers courses for this group of staff, which also cover the topic of accessibility.
