Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation

The State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the state’s universities have established the Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation to support emerging academic talent. This enables Worms University of Applied Sciences to provide funding and support to our students each year. The amount of the scholarship depends on the funds made available by the foundation each year; therefore, we are unable to provide any information in advance regarding the amount of funding, except in the case of the ‘Scholarship for High-Achieving Students’ programme.

  1. Support for outstanding students
  2. Support for students in need
  3. Support for single-parent students with children
  4. Funding for gifted students who demonstrate exceptional social commitment – applications are only accepted for the winter semester, 15 September each year. Payments are always made from January onwards for a period of 12 months, in monthly instalments of 300 euros each.
  5. Support for international student exchanges – applications via the International Centre

Allocation of funds

The Worms University of Applied Sciences awards the Rhineland-Palatinate State Scholarship twice a year, with the exception of the annual scholarship for gifted final-year students, for which applications can only be made during the winter semester.

State Scholarship Weighting

The following criteria are assessed for the state scholarship and are weighted differently depending on the funding stream:

  1. Support for academic excellence: Academic/subject-specific aptitude
    . Applicants must demonstrate a very high level of academic aptitude. The following criteria are relevant to the assessment in this context: excellent academic performance, individual marks and an average mark as verified by the Examinations Office.
  2. Students in financial hardship: Substantiation of current financial need
  3. Single parents with a child: Substantiation of the status quo as a ‘single parent with a child’
  4. Scholarship for gifted students with social commitment:
    academic aptitude plus activities such as involvement in student university and self-governance, caring for relatives, involvement in aid organisations (e.g. DRK, THW, fire service), taking on responsibility in other organisations or associations, or political engagement, and awards for voluntary work.
  5. International exchange: A cooperation agreement with a partner university abroad must be in place – further information and the application documents are available from our International Centre

In general, the following also applies:

It is not permitted to receive other scholarships based on talent or academic achievement at the same time.

Applicants must be enrolled students at Worms University of Applied Sciences, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, and must be eligible to sit examinations.
