Ada Lovelace Project

The Ada Lovelace Project (ALP) is an initiative in Rhineland-Palatinate aimed at encouraging girls and young women to pursue STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Ada Lovelace Project aims to encourage girls and women to pursue STEM degree courses and careers. The focus is on equal opportunities, empowerment and breaking down gender stereotypes. Through role models and hands-on activities, we bring STEM to life and inspire young women – in line with the motto: ‘If I want to, I can!’

The project is named after Ada, Countess of Lovelace (1815–1852), who wrote the first programmes for operating calculating machines over 150 years ago, thereby showing great courage at a time when women were barred from universities, academies and their libraries, she showed great courage.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Health.
